Maple delights the eye with its soft, consistent color tones and clear grain. Hardwood Maple will enhance the beauty of both the light-splashed, wide expanses of large rooms, hallways and stairways, as well as in smaller rooms.

Appearance

COLOR: Heartwood is creamy white to light reddish brown; sapwood is pale to creamy white.

GRAIN: Closed, subdued grain, with medium figuring and uniform texture. Occasionally shows quilted, fiddle-back, curly or bird’s-eye figuring. Figured boards often culled during grading and sold at a premium.

VARIATIONS WITHIN SPECIES AND GRADES: Black maple is also hard; other species are classified as soft.

DIMENSIONAL STABILITY: Average

DURABILITY: Strong, dense, hard, stiff.

Grades - Prefinished

TIMELESS: Strict grading rules limit the size and number of any natural defects such as knots, streaks, or sap wood. Select or Timeless grading is for the customer looking for the clearest and most consistent look to their flooring.

VINTAGE: This grade allows tight filled knots, as well as other naturally occurring characteristics of wood such as streaks, mineral, limited worm holes, color variation and sap wood.

COLONIAL: This grade allows unlimited character markings that are found naturally in solid wood.
