Because of its hardness and durability, Hickory is typically used to make axe handles, but hardwood Hickory has become an excellent choice for a strong, beautiful floor for your home that is as appropriate in a contemporary high-rise loft as it is in a log home in the country.

Appearance

COLOR: Hickory heartwood is tan or reddish; sapwood is white to cream, with fine brown lines.

GRAIN: Hickory is closed, with moderate definition; somewhat rough-textured.

VARIATIONS WITHIN SPECIES AND GRADES: In hickory there are often pronounced differentiations in color between spring wood and summer wood.

Grades - Prefinished

TIMELESS: Strict grading rules limit the size and number of any natural defects such as knots, streaks, or sap wood. Select or Timeless grading is for the customer looking for the clearest and most consistent look to their flooring.

VINTAGE: This grade allows tight filled knots, as well as other naturally occurring characteristics of wood such as streaks, mineral, limited worm holes, color variation and sap wood.

COLONIAL: This grade allows unlimited character markings that are found naturally in solid wood.
