Douglas Fir is a beautiful wood often confused with that of the Southern yellow pine. It looks great in any home, from contemporary to classic.

Appearance


COLOR: Heartwood is yellowish tan to light brown. Sapwood is tan to white. Heartwood may be confused with that of Southern yellow pine. Radical color change upon exposure to sunlight.


GRAIN: Normally straight, with occasional wavy or spiral texture. Nearly all fir flooring is vertical-grain or rift sawn clear-grade material.

HARDNESS (JANKA): Below average

DIMENSIONAL STABILITY: Above average

DURABILITY: Durable, but easily dented

Grades - Prefinished

TIMELESS: Strict grading rules limit the size and number of any natural defects such as knots, streaks, or sap wood. Select or Timeless grading is for the customer looking for the clearest and most consistent look to their flooring.

VINTAGE: This grade allows tight filled knots, as well as other naturally occurring characteristics of wood such as streaks, mineral, limited worm holes, color variation and sap wood.

COLONIAL: This grade allows unlimited character markings that are found naturally in solid wood.
